‘Herald of Vision’ by Nikunj Patel

7,000.00

Artwork Size: 22.5in x 28.5in | Paper: Beirut Black 250gsm

Nikunj’s latest works have him bringing together influences from his tribal Dhodiya roots, and reimaginings of ancient pagan art. The “Bhootada” a Dhodiya tribal form, usually made of clay, has become a recurring element in Nikunj’s work and plays the role of a protector, guardian, or gatekeeper. In ancient Egyptian art, the Ibis plays a similar role. The ungendered Gobelins, with their stunted proportions, are a crude representation of humankind that looks to the protector for guidance, vision, and protection. One can consider this piece a tribute to the forces that we must submit to once we are humbled by our limitations.
